Here's something to think
about! Jeremiah actually prophesied that the 70 year Babylonian captivity
would
take place. However, to end
this period of
domination, God actually
"put it in the mind" of
Cyrus, a pagan king, to
cause Jeremiah's prophecy
to come true.
Think for a moment what
this means! God was definitely orchestrating what
was happening for the
sake of His people but
was at the same time
allowing Cyrus to make decisions freely that
reflected his own personal philosophy of leadership.
What we have here is a
reference to the sovereignty
of God and yet within
His predetermined plans,
He has given all of us a
free will. How can this be
reconciled?
I won't guarantee a full-blown answer to this question--but we'll certainly
