Tonight we start through Chronicles.
Here's a clue to interpreting these two rather extensive books--actually "one" in the Hebrew Scriptures. Someone has said that the message of these two books can be reduced to a couple of verses--1 Chronicles 17:12 and 2 Chronicles 7:14. Together, they give a bird's-eye view of most of the chronicler's total agenda.

Deriving principles from 1 Chronicles is more difficult than
any Old Testament book thus far--but I'm encouraged at what emerges through careful study. Since the Holy Spirit is the ultimate author of Scripture, it should not surprise us that there are "divine principles" in
the midst of some rather detailed history. There are some "great golden nuggets"--but we have to dig for them!
Thanks for your prayers.
