Getz GENESIS Week 1 March 23, 2009 Discussing Supracultural Principles Unfolding Revelation • We must follow God’s unfolding revelation as it is recorded in the whole of Scripture. • We must make sure that any “principle” we derive from the Old Testament story is reinforced and clarified in the New Testament. • We must always make sure we interpret Scripture accurately. • We must consider God’s plan for the local church. Chosen in Christ 1. In order to have an abundant life now and eternally, we must receive the gift of life provided by the all-powerful God who created the _____________ (Genesis 1:1; Ephesians 1:3-4; see Principle 2 in Ephesians). Reflection and Response Do you have a personal and intimate relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ? (See Ephesians 2:8-9.) Body, Soul and Spirit 2. Since we are eternal beings created by God to inhabit physical bodies, we are to offer our ___________ __________ to God in order to glorify Him (Genesis 1:26a, 27; 2:7; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; see Principle 12 in 1 Thessalonians). Reflection and Response How can we grow effectively in all dimensions of our lives —physically, psychologically (intellectually and emotionally) and spiritually? (See also Romans 6:12-14.)
